Algeria has officially filed his candidacy for the organization of the African Cup of Nations (CAN). The Algerian Football Federation must now prove that his case is stronger than the six other candidate countries.
One week before the deadline for the submission of applications, Algeria informed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of its willingness to organize CAN 2017. The FAF Monday filed his application with the FCA told APS the Ministry of Sports.
Initially, the CAN 2017 to be organized by Libya, but it has decided to withdraw, for security reasons . The country is currently experiencing heavy fighting, affecting even the capital, Tripoli. CAF has opened nominations for the reallocation of CAN 2017. Besides Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe candidate. The FCA decision will be made in the first quarter 2015.
Algeria is already worn candidate for the organization of CAN 2019 and 2021, but his case had not been retained . CAF had preferred the Cameroon (2019) and Côte d'Ivoire (2021).
This time, Algeria could win the bet. A source close to the FAF told Algeria-Focus she was "very optimistic" about the chances of Algeria to the organization of the CAN 2017. To the extent that two black African countries were selected for 2019 and 2021, and the settlement of the CAF provides alternating between sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb, Algeria has every chance, said the same source.
